Common Name Tahitian chestnut
Habitat Notes Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia. From Java to the Marquesas. Grows at elevations of sea-level to 500 metres. More common near low elevations along shorelines, wet areas, swamps, marshes,mangroves and rivers where there is a mean rainfall from 1500-4300mm (60-170 inches). Located in the fossil pollen record of the core KAO3 from Rano Kao, Rapa Nui(Easter Island)(Gossen, 2010)
