Morphology Notes Tricolporate/Stephanocolporate. Shape: spheroidal approximately 22um. Round pore aperture. Exine structure very thick 2.5um. Sculpture echinate with spines 3-3.5um in length. Intectate on pollen slide, tectate with columnellae uncertain on SEM. Pore wider than colpi.

Habitat Notes Wetlands, damp lowland fields and wasteland. Shade and dappled light inhibits germination. Bidens are "zoochorous" which means seeds are spread by animals. New Zealand, Africa, Bahamas, Brazil, Dominica, Domincan Republic, Ghana, Haiti, Java,Malaysia, mexico, New Guinea (Dani), Phillipines, S.Africa, Tanzania, Tonga, Upper Volta,Venezuela, W. Africa. Skottsberg collected from Easter Island in 1920. Gossen found Bidens in the fossil record of KAO3 Rano Kao, Rapa Nui (Easter Island) pre-human settlement. (Gossen,2010)
