Habitat notes | Dry coastal Chile. Andean foothills, in dry river valleys or open hillsides in seasonally dry regions with Mediterranean climate. At low elevations Jubaea prefers mild winters and can tolerate cool summers. This Jubaea species found in the fossil pollen of the lake sediment core KAO3 in Rano Kao, Rapa Nui (Easter Island) is now called Paschalococos disperta by Dransfield as one of the extinct trees of Easter.(Gossen 2010) |
