Habitat notesIndigenous to the islands of the Marquesas (Nuku Hiva, Ua Huka, Ua Pou, Hiva Oa, Tahuata, Fatu Hiva). Endemic to East Polynesia, it is found to dry hillsides along with Sapindus saponaria. Noted in the fossil pollen record of KAO3 Rano Kao, Rapa Nui (Easter Island) (Gossen, 2010)
