Habitat notesNear permanent water; on a range of substrates, sand, loam, clay, laterite. Occasional to common in waste places (Whistler, 1988). Presumably indigenous in southeastern Asia and Malesia, now adventive in most southern Pacific archipelagoes and elsewhere in the tropics, including Australia, New Zealand, Africa, and America (Smith, 1991). Fosberg et al. (1979) lists as native to Micronesia.
